Many of us have reached a spot where we might feel stuck and unfulfilled with our lives, thinking that we are not achieving the things we wanted to. Our dreams seem so far away, and it feels that we still have a long way until we can reach them. Often, we’re not even sure if achieving our dream life is possible.
What most people don’t realize is that the difference between living your dream life, and staying stuck in monotony is your mindset. If your mind is telling you that you can’t do it, then you can’t expect any good results to come forth. However, if you make a full shift in your mindset, then you can change your life entirely. Here are some powerful mantras that you can go by.
1. Your Mistakes Don’t Define You, They Teach You
Many people look at mistakes and failures like something that defines them – like something that casts a shadow over their past and future. They see these mistakes as something shameful that should not have happened. However, this is not the ideal money mindset to have when seeking success.
No one is born perfect, and no one goes through life without experiencing failure. However, rather than looking at your mistakes as something to bring you down, consider them as lessons on how to do things differently – how to do better next time.
Recognizing your mistakes is the first step towards reaching your goals, no matter how odd it may seem at first. The next time you are put in the position of potentially making the same mistake, your brain will take a pause and remind you of what happened last time.
Mistakes are there so that you can learn from them. They teach you how to do things differently and more efficiently. They are a stepping stone to success, so beating yourself up over your past mistakes won’t do you any good. Rather than letting those mistakes hold you up, use them to prompt you further.
2. You Have the Power to Change Your Life
Something that many of us don’t realize is that we have full power over our lives – and if we want to change, we can do it. There is always another way to do things, so if your plan didn’t go the way you wanted it to originally, you can redirect and try going at it a different way.
Our brains are very powerful – and if we take full advantage of this, we are unstoppable. As human beings, we always find a way to survive. It’s how we got through evolution in the first place. We pivoted, adapted, and improvised until we made our dreams come true.
Therefore, when you find yourself in a place where you say, “I’m stuck,” take a moment to rethink your strategy. Rather than keeping yourself anchored to the same spot, try broadening your money mindset. Reframe it into “This doesn’t seem to work this way; how can I redirect it to support my success?” With an open mind, you’ll be able to find a new path – one that you may not have noticed before.
3. Slow and Steady Wins the Race – Small Steps Go a Long Way
There is no shortcut to being successful – and realizing that is the first step towards building your dream life. Perfectionism, or thinking that the big step is the only step, is what usually makes us feel stuck. It’s the thing that makes us procrastinate, thinking that if we cannot do it perfectly, we shouldn’t be doing it at all.
The pressure is too much, so rather than doing something, anything, we shut it down and we end up doing nothing. A correct money mindset that will bring you more success is to break things down, making one small step at a time. Looking back, you’ll be surprised how much you can achieve this way. Dreams don’t happen with just one big step. You must give yourself time and trust that everything will happen at the right moment. Each big moment needs a small stepping stone, a habit that will bring you further into your dream life. I recommend James Clear’s book, Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones, to develop these timely little habits that will bring you success.
4. Balance the Being with Doing
By definition, we are human beings. However, through generations, we were taught and hardwired to define ourselves with our “doing.” So, we often forget about the “being” part of ourselves.
When trying to build our dream life and reach success, we need to focus on “who” and “how” we are. We must learn about the things that bring us joy, what makes us happy, what gives us purpose. To advance further in our lives, we should know exactly what dwells within.
This is why it’s recommended to balance your “being” with your “doing.” Make sure that your actions match with who you are and what you want to do in the future. If your “doing” is not something that brings you joy, then you might want to rethink your strategy.
5. Be with People Who Have Accomplished What You Are Trying to Achieve
There is a saying, “you are who you surround yourself with.” If you surround yourself with people who don’t go after their dreams, or people who are stuck in their own disempowering stories, you will likely be stuck in your own dissatisfying life yourself. However, if you surround yourself with accomplished people who are determined to achieve their goals, people who don’t let their mistakes bring them down, then you will be inspired and empowered to do the same.
It’s important to be around people who inspire you. While this doesn’t mean you have to leave all your old friends, you are allowed to set boundaries. If those people no longer serve you or are toxic for you, always criticizing and bringing you down, you should not feel guilty for protecting your energy from them. Notice how you feel when you are around people who always discourage you, your body always knows.
When you are trying to manifest what you want to be in life, you want to have similar energy with those who have accomplished the same thing. This is why it’s important to be aware of who you surround yourself with.

With a correct mindset, anyone is capable of living their dream life. You just need to keep a positive attitude about your mistakes, take slow and steady steps, balance your life, be with supportive people and take charge.
